²¹When Peter saw him, he said to Jesus, Lord, what about this man? ²²Jesus said to him, If I want him to stay (survive, live) until I come, what is that to you? [What concern is it of yours?] You follow Me! ²³So word went out among the brethren that this disciple was not going to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not going to die, but, If I want him to stay (survive, live) till I come, what is that to you? ²⁴It is this same disciple who is bearing witness to these things and who has recorded (written) them; and we [well] know that his testimony is true. ²⁵And there are also many other things which Jesus did. If they should be all recorded one by one [in detail], I suppose that even the world itself could not contain (have room for) the books that would be written.
