You stood there and watchedas foreigners entered Jerusalemand took what they wanted. In fact, you were no betterthan those foreigners.
Why did you celebratewhen such a dreadful disasterstruck your relatives? Why were you so pleasedwhen everyone in Judahwas suffering?
They are my people, and you were cruel to them. You went through their towns, sneering and stealingwhatever was left.
In their time of torment, you ambushed refugeesand handed them overto their attackers.
The day is comingwhen I, the Lord, will judge the nations. And, Edom, you will pay in fullfor what you have done.
I forced the people of Judahto drink the wine of my angeron my sacred mountain.Soon the neighbouring nationsmust drink their fill—then vanish without a trace.
The Lord's people who escapewill go to Mount Zion, and it will be holy. Then Jacob's descendantswill capture the land of thosewho took their land.
