1 And it came to be in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus for all the world to be registered.
2 This took place as a first registration while Quirinius was governing Syria.
3 And all were going to be registered, each one to his own city.
4 And Yosĕph also went up from Galil, out of the city of Natsareth to Yehuḏah, to the city of Dawiḏ, which is called Bĕyth Leḥem, because he was of the house and lineage of Dawiḏ,
5 to be registered with Miryam, who was engaged to him – being pregnant.
6 And it came to be, that while they were there, the days were filled for her to give birth.
7 And she gave birth to her first-born Son, and wrapped Him up, and laid Him down in a feeding trough, because there was no room for them in a lodging place.
