8 Oui, nous le savons, la loi de Moïse est bonne, si on s’en sert comme il faut.
9 Comprenons une chose : la loi n’est pas faite pour ceux qui sont fidèles à Dieu. Elle est faite pour ceux qui refusent d’obéir, pour les révoltés, pour les méchants et pour les pécheurs. La loi est pour ceux qui ne respectent pas Dieu ni les choses de Dieu, pour ceux qui tuent leur père ou leur mère, pour les assassins.
10 La loi est pour les gens qui ont une vie immorale, pour les hommes qui couchent avec des jeunes gens, pour les marchands d’esclaves. La loi est aussi pour les menteurs et ceux qui font des serments faux. Elle est pour tous ceux qui agissent, d’une façon ou d’une autre, contre l’enseignement juste.
11 Cet enseignement se trouve dans la Bonne Nouvelle qui fait connaître le Dieu plein de gloire. Dieu, qui veut notre bonheur, m’a confié cette Bonne Nouvelle.
12 Je remercie le Christ Jésus notre Seigneur. Il m’a jugé digne de confiance en me prenant à son service et il m’a donné la force nécessaire.
13 Pourtant, avant, je l’avais insulté, je l’avais fait souffrir, j’avais été violent. Mais Dieu a eu pitié de moi. J’agissais ainsi sans savoir ce que je faisais. En effet, je ne croyais pas au Christ.
14 Mais la bonté de notre Seigneur pour moi a été immense : j’ai reçu la foi, et aussi l’amour qui vient du Christ Jésus.
