Be thou not far from me, my God:thy speedy help I crave.
Confound, consume them, that untomy soul are enemies:Cloth'd be they with reproach and shamethat do my hurt devise.
But I with expectationwill hope continually; And yet with praises more and moreI will thee magnify.
Thy justice and salvationmy mouth abroad shall show,Ev'n all the day; for I thereofthe numbers do not know.
And I will constantly go onin strength of God the Lord; And thine own righteousness, ev'n thinealone, I will record.
For even from my youth, O God,by thee I have been taught; And hitherto I have declar'dthe wonders thou hast wrought.
And now, Lord, leave me not, when Iold and gray-headed grow:Till to this age thy strength and pow'rto all to come I show.
